Ukrainian illustration in Korea

The exhibition Ukrainian Illustration Garden, dedicated to contemporary Ukrainian book illustration, opened at the National Library for Children and Young Adults in Seoul. The project was realized with the support of the Embassy of Ukraine in the Republic of Korea, and curated by the illustrators’ club Pictoric.

The idea to present Ukrainian illustrators originated with the Embassy of Ukraine in Korea within the framework of the annual international children’s book illustration competition held at the National Library for Children and Young Adults.

The curators from Pictoric — Anna Sarvira, Oleh Hryshchenko, and Olena Staranchuk — developed the concept of the exhibition and its structure. The Embassy of Ukraine provided translations and communication, while the library handled the physical realization of the exhibition.

The exhibition features works by 18 Ukrainian illustrators, including the picture book Tukoni — The Forest Dwellers” by the artist Oksana Bula.

The project aims to introduce the Korean audience to contemporary Ukrainian children’s illustration and showcase its stylistic diversity.
